Gardiner Citizens Now Transported to Olympic Medical Center
If you live in Gardiner and call 911, you can expect to be transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. Last week Clallam County Dist #3 fire took control of Jefferson County Fire Dist #5 with little of no notice to the citizens of Gardiner and Discovery Bay. In what started as a citizen petition to separate Gardiner from Jefferson County Dist #5 ended in a swift transfer of power from one fire district to another. This is confusing the residence as to who's in what fire district and technical issues like 911 dispatching, which need to be resolved. For instance, if you dial 911 in Jefferson County, you are connected to Jeffcom not Clallam County dispatch. So another step is needed and Jeffcom will need to transfer the call to Clallam County. Once transferred, 911 will be unable to have a open line because the lines have been transferred. Other issues are, why go further west when all major care providers like Harborview are east. Nothing against Clallam County but one needs to question why the fire hall that Gardiner residence will depend on was built in a flood zone not to mention a tsunami zone. Less then a mile from the fire hall is a tsunami escape route sign?
